The Wild Part
The wild part lives there
Where art soul speaks through image
Significant voice

At first, I didn’t recognize them.
Then, after looking at the painted image of these faces for a few days, we became better acquainted,
and I fell in love.
I had just painted and flipped to the next sheet and painted again.
There was no time to think about whether I liked them or what they meant.
There was no time to think about anything but the moment, the movement.
That’s the beauty of working fast, on newsprint, which is cheap and not too precious.
These are two and three-minute studies with black paint and some pastel, sparked by big physical strokes as a disruptor.
Breaking free of my normal approach.
That was the goal.
What I got was something new but still a painted image from my own brush.
Thank you to teacher and mentor Connie Solera.
The beauty of this is the process, because when finished, there was so much to find in not knowing and just doing. The intention was to unveil a mysterious face.
Isn’t that how we move through the things in life we can’t fully know about? When we are in the mystery of not having the answers?
We take a step forward in our own way. That step may work and new information may arrive like it did above.
Or, it doesn’t move us in the intended direction, which means we have to pivot.
However it works out,
We are living through our artist self.
That is significant.
May the light of the Moon illuminate your life.
May the light of the Moon illuminate the wisdom within you.
And remember, if things don’t work out as expected,
there is information on the side we don’t see tonight, that carries unknown information. ©cwg
