How To Travel Into A Mysterious Portal

It’s the November New Moon.
The days are now shorter and the nights longer. 
The year is in it’s last quarter.
According to NASA, it’s called the 

“invisible phase of the moon.”

To me, the New Moon also represents a portal.
Per Merriam-Webster dictionary, a portal is a grand doorway.
They mention a palace as having a grand doorway.
A temple has a grand doorway also.

Although this may be true, I’ve always envisioned a “portal” as an entry to another dimension, another world, or the imagination itself. Portals don’t always need to be grand, they can also be tiny. 

Why not? It’s the imagination! 

The night, the dark, is now a portal. 
To  dreams
To possibilities
To an open void, filled with mystery. 
Something unknown, yet full. 

I’ve been working with portals a lot lately.
Portals into writing, such as a story, a poem, or anything that needs to be opened for discovery.
Also, portals into painting. Beginning a session of painting with a random stroke with the brush. Bristles loaded with a randomly selected color.
Always, the imagination eventually takes over. 

Just scribbling can be a portal to a finished drawing, or a wash of color that represents the future, or a haiku. And then there the night time dreams. All are doorways to the creative process, the imagination, another world, new inner conversations, new possibilities.

Portals for the artist, and/or the self examined soul, are an entreaty to a conversation with self, with a higher power, with the unconscious.

The boundaries are the edges of the canvas, or the decided upon number of syllables, or when the alarm goes off. Still, the conversation is deep and 

revelationary.

The New Moon Phase is a place for
resting 
listening 
and maybe even 
waiting. 

This month, the New Moon is in Scorpio. According to We’Moon, those born with Moon in Scorpio are curious, private, mysterious, and intense.
They feel deeply.

For everyone else, during this Scorpio New Moon, know that deep feeling is in the sky for you.
Don’t fight it, just trust, and let your energy move with the Moon. 

While in this New Moon phase, where the Moonlight is invisible,
take a moment. 

Breathe in the beauty of the night. 
Imagine the great mystery as a deep blue goddess walking with you. 

The embroidery at the hem of her robes carries the woven magic of a developing story.
How that story ends is shaping into an image that will be revealed. 
She holds possibility in one hand. 
She places her other hand on the small of your back.
And she accompanies you in the night walk toward something in the future. 
Something that you don’t know exactly what it is yet. 
Yet you trust the mystery of the Invisible Moon.

If you can’t see what’s up ahead for this quarter of the year, know there is a distant star shining in your direction from far away.
Let your eyes take in the shapes in the night.

Pause for the sound of the voice within as it travels the currents of night air.
Let your ears open for the message that is to come.

Feel movement in the atmosphere and watch for unusual information that is just for you.
Let her robes carry you into the unknown for a destination not yet identified.

Breathe in for the allusive scent that teaches patience.
Let your breathe deepen as you follow the rhythm of each inhale and exhale.

Know that she acknowledges your value.
