Life Happens

Life happens, which is sometimes a disruption to the best intentions.
It happened with this Newsletter, and I’ve found my way back.
Here is why it’s an important part of the creative journey.

I like to say I begin my day with a creative practice.
I like to say it’s a commitment.
I like to say it’s consistent.
A creative practice is how I make sense of what’s going on inside and outside of myself.

Because of these things listed above that I like to say,
the day begins with turning my creative practice into something I actually do.
It’s planned to fit into my day somehow, some way.
Usually that plan works, sometimes it doesn’t.

When life happens, building a creative practice takes focus

Maybe you’re in the middle of something important and meaningful.
Maybe a project has been buried in visions in order to cope with the happenings of life.

Everyone has that thing they know they need to express.

It could be the urge to:

Finish that book
Paint your next series on canvas
Teach your newfound knowledge to other interested people
Improve your eating habits and lose weight.
Get a degree, even after age sixty or seventy.

Help is here for you.

Help is here by developing the art of listening to that quiet voice within.
Daily participation with the subconscious mind is a way to connect with that voice.
The subconscious knows how to travel through the unknown to find doable actions.
It’s a fun and effective way to approach those things that call for attention or have been set aside.

For me, it was two weeks in bed with Covid, under-slab leaks, wet wood floors, contractors punching holes in walls to reroute pipes. The disruptions were big. Along with this, the little disruptions rolled in on the waves of the larger to bring intentions to a halt.

But that’s not the story. That’s not a story.
That disruption I’m speaking of, is a process.
The disruption is the beginning of a process toward following through to a better solution.

It means:
Finding time alone. Restarting small, from the beginning, until the subconscious washes to the shores of your consciousness, allowing that familiar creative prowess to show itself again. And then the process continues. The project, not the disruption, becomes the story.

I’m so happy to be back in touch with you!

May the light of the Moon illuminate the wisdom within you.
And remember, if things don’t work out as expected,
there is information on the side we don’t see yet.
